RefAid - Humanizando la Frontera Sur

La licencia de utilización de RefAid (Plataforma IT + Aplicación móvil + Capacitación) tiene un coste de 20 000 euros.

Lanzar este recurso en el territorio de acción de la Delegación Diocesana de Migraciones propiciará su utilización por otras agencias colaboradoras en Marruecos, lográndose así un notable impacto en nuestra labor de atención a las personas vulnerables:

• Habilitaremos RefAid en todo el territorio de Marruecos.
• La herramienta RefAid será utilizada por un número ilimitado de personas en situación de riesgo, así como por todas las organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro que deseen sumarse a esta iniciativa.
• Personalizaremos la herramienta con el diseño más adecuado a las necesidades de los usuarios (selección de contenidos en diferentes lenguas).
• Incluiremos los servicios de las organizaciones colaboradoras que operan en Marruecos, poniendo a su disposición tutoriales que faciliten un uso eficiente de este recurso.
• Realizaremos actividades de sensibilización y formación dirigidas a los potenciales usuarios.

Llegar a los 30 000 euros permitirá habilitar RefAid en buena parte del territorio español, haciendo posible la integración en la plataforma digital de las organizaciones del otro lado de la Frontera Sur.

WHO are we?

The Diocesan Delegation for Migration (DDM) is an organization of the Church at the service of the most vulnerable people.

RefAid is a digital platform aimed at assisting organizations to publish their aid resources according to location and category (food, medical care, shelter, etc.), promoting user access to the service network.

WHAT do we do?

We promote support to populations at risk, whatever nationality, origin, belief or gender they are, and we work on protection of people and respect of their rights.

We offer a humanitarian aid response to vulnerable people in transit at the Southern Border (asylum seekers, refugees, migrants, and displaced people).

WHERE do we operate?

The Southern Border is meeting point for various cultures (Maghreb, European and sub-Saharan), different languages (Arabic, French, Rifero and Spanish) and religions (Muslims, Jews and Christians).

In this rich and diverse place there is a dramatic reality. The border, where the migration routes of West Africa and North Africa meet, is an open wound where people from Africa, the Middle East and Asia put their lives at risk.

HOW we intervene?

1. Receiving and listening to people and the community to restore emotional integrity and meet basic needs.

2. Accompanying and directing migrants to different administrative, educational and health facilities.

3. Raising awareness and prevention on various key topics.

4. Enhancing entrepreneurship and migrants´ self-autonomy through training and occupational programs, as well as supporting start up activities.

5. Providing emergency aid.

WHY is this project needed?

The Diocesan Delegation for Migration (DDM) wants to give visibility and accessibility to its service network in an attempt to try to stop the current situation. In 2019, 893 people lost their lives when trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea to reach the Spanish coast. Many of them, 54, were minors and five hundred are still missing. Population in transit (asylum seekers, refugees, displaced people, and migrants) often lack information on resources and services available for them. A digital platform, operating on both sides of the Southern Border, would facilitate and streamline migrants access to key information about available services, as well as increase the protection and autonomy of the most vulnerable (pregnant women, children, sick people and victims of violence). Currently, around 25,000 people are beneficiaries of our services in Morocco. This initiative would reach 60,000 people.

RefAid

RefAid is a digital platform that allows humanitarian organizations to publish their services and update them in real time.

The platform improves communication and collaboration between agencies, leading to a more efficient management of resources.

This platform includes a mobile application available in several languages that provides people in transit with information about the services offered by humanitarian organizations.

RefAid is a consolidated tool already used in several European countries that aims to improve the situation of high vulnerable and excluded migrants at the Southern Border.

RefAid will support the DDM during the launch and dissemination of the digital platform. Different explanatory resources and materials have been developed to promote the platform and its benefits.

A trial version of the platform and mobile application are currently available in Morocco. Fund raising is needed to activate it throughout the country.

Why right now?

Due to the current epidemiological context, our services to vulnerable people are becoming exceptional and can only take place in exceptional circumstances, responding only to emergency situations. Informing and mobilizing communities is neither simple nor expeditious. RefAid allows immediate dissemination of key information, of vital importance for so many.

The dissemination of our materials to prevent Covid-19 (flyers, posters, audios, etc.) is taking place at slow pace and unequally among migrants. RefAid allows to update information systematically and categorically in real time, providing quick access to everyone. Our teams cannot always accompany migrant women to the hospital when they deliver. Explaining to the mother how to get to the collection point, while indicating the location to the ambulance, and coordinating with each other, is a challenge. RefAid allows the exact location of the mother to be sent to the health services and the ambulance.

FUNDING GOAL: 20.000

The license to use RefAid (IT Platform + Mobile Application + Training) costs 20.000 euros.

Launching this resource in the territory of action of the Diocesan Delegation Migration will promote its use by other collaborating agencies in Morocco, thus achieving a remarkable impact on our care of vulnerable eople:

• We will enable RefAid throughout the territory of Morocco.
• The RefAid tool will be used by an unlimited number of people at risk, as well as by all non-profit organizations that wish to join this initiative.
• We will fine tune the tool to the needs of users (i.e., different languages).
• We will provide tutorials to other collaborating organizations in Morocco to facilitate an efficient use of this resource.
• We will carry out awareness-raising and training activities for potential users.

STRETCH GOAL: 30.000

Reaching 30.000 euros will enable RefAid to be enabled in much of Spanish territory, making it possible to integrate organizations on the other side of the Southern Border into the digital platform.
