The Art Express will be a mobile art therapy studio that will bring mental health services to the people who need them most.
Art + mental health services= positive individual and/or community change and exchange.

The Reason? People need and deserve access to mental health services.
What is art therapy? Art therapy is the use of art and the art making process for change. The change could be psychological, emotional, mental, personal, familial or social.
Why art therapy? The art making process is a fun and safe way to engage people. Creativity is a part of being human, and art therapy honours the creative process which allows people to honour themselves and others.
Why a mobile studio? To bring art therapy to those who need it most.
Who?
* The art therapist: My name is Jen Vivian. I am an art therapist with an MA in Creative Arts Therapies. Originally from St. John's Newfoundland I currently live and work in Montreal, Canada and plan to move to rural Cape Breton sometime
in the near future. I am an Inuk woman with a big dream, to help people who don't have access to mental health services receive them.
* Aboriginal children in crisis: I currently work with a number of Aboriginal children who are in crisis. The number of Aboriginal children who are in the foster care system in Canada is astonishing. My primary goal with The Art Express
is to help give these Aboriginal kids a place to heal. I work within an Aboriginal approach to art therapy that is culturally relevant for these children. The Art Express will work from this approach to art therapy.
* Communities: My second goal is to work with different communities and have cultural events for cultural sharing through art making. Art making can help increase peoples openness to learning about other cultures and harbor debate in a safe
way.
* Rural communities: my third goal is to bring The Art Express to rural communities who are lacking in mental health services. I will partner with organizations in the area in attempts to let the art making process work its magic and help
people who need some healing in their lives.
