Currently, TalkLife (free on
Apple and
Android devices - view demo) is a peer-to-peer social network allowing young people to start a conversation about "taboo" issues like depression, self harm and even suicide. It is an understanding, safe
community for people who feel alone and isolated can find others who truly understand.
So far, we've kicked some goals. Our app has five star ratings all over the world and testimonials from users who say that TalkLife has "saved my life". This makes what we do worthwhile.
In October 2013 we were featured at Europe's largest tech conference, Web Summit Dublin, which helped us connect with new mentors including NASDAQ Managing Director Asaf Homossany and Manager at Facebook Ireland Chris Small.
We're connecting with awesome, like-minded organisations like
R U OK.
But this is only the beginning. Let's talk about the future.
Now, with the help of experts in this area, we're looking to use our big data (we're getting about 10,000 posts/comments on the platform per day, and growing) to analyse, predict and prevent high risk mental health episodes (including suicide).
We're talking about a future where TalkLife can track at-risk users and connect them with the help they need.
Social media and smartphones are an every day fact of life for young people. We believe that TalkLife can be a key way to kick youth mental health in the guts, and save lives.
This is what we are about. If you're with us, we'd love you to show your support!
