Who we are
Skills2Earn is a transformative initiative that seeks to build IT skills of unemployed youth and ease their path to gainful employment.
Our project
The project provides a learning platform for learners to be imparted with employable IT skills through a project-centered approach and then introducing them to work and business opportunities.
Why Skills2Earn?
Kenya’s unemployment rate is estimated at around 40% (Trading Economics, 2017) of its 18.6 Million people workforce (Central Intelligence Agency, 2017) with a substantive percentage being youths. Unemployment in Kenya can be attributed to lack of job opportunities and lack of employable skills for the educated population. Only half of the approximately 50,000 graduates annually have the requisite skills for the job market. The high unemployment rate has contributed to youth vulnerability to extremist movements and other social crimes. The situation has been worsened by the lack of creativity and innovation that has seen a ballooning number of job -seekers rather than job creators.
Our appeal
Help us to raise funds to facilitate the first cohort of 500 youths to be trained at out Skills2Earn Center in Kisumu. The funds will go towards paying instructors, Internet and acquisition of some equipment.
