A bus is desparately needed to transport children from Port Moresby's urban slums to school, a journey which can take over an hour. At the moment we are using a mini van which requires several trips each day. But moreover, our teachers currently drive,
so they are able to spend less time in the classroom with the students, which limits the classroom capacity.
At school the students learn self care, literacy, social studies and receive immunisations.
The school provides education for children up to 8 years old who are most at risk from the disease and deprivation caused by poverty.
A bus would allow us to transport all the children together and ensure they arrive at school on time.
We have worked really hard at raising the funds ourselves. So far we have raised $14,000 through fundraising events which is well short of what we need to get a bus. We can employ a driver and put fuel in our current vehicle with the funds we have raised
so far but what these children really need is a bus. We are seeking your help to fill the gap.
