WHAT DO WE DO?
The Policy Booth is a social enterprise that is committed to putting the public back into public policy.
WHY DO WE DO THIS?
Because we believe that policy is a powerful tool of social change.
Let's take a moment to think about policy...
Now, we know this comment has probably made you loose interest in our venture... That’s the problem! It’s so easy to get lost in policy, and more often than not we want to tell policy makers to get lost!
Otto Von Bismark (the dude below...) once said: Policies are like sausages, it's best not to see them being made.
Now we are not here to argue with Otto (becuase frankly, he and his pointy hat scare us), but we are here to change such attitudes by increasing the capacity of policy makers, increasing community understanding of policy, and increasing opportunities for meaningful
public engagement in policy creation.
We are here to put the public back into public policy.
BUT HOW WILL WE DO THIS?
We are going to do this by providing face-to-face (‘pop-up’) and online community consultation tools to policy makers.
These include:
The Booth - a fully restored vintage caravan, and the only pop-up community consultation tool in Australia - which captures community attention and provides policy makers with a physical presence
during the consultation process.
FEEDback - a program that sees us partner with local social enterprises, businesses and vendors, providing them with the opportunity to work along side us (and The Booth) during the community consultation. This
will help create community during the consultation process. This will also allow our clients to support their local community by supporting local enterprises and businesses.
An online community consultation tool for policy makers
to use to interact with their community - a platform tailored to produce outcomes that can be directly translated into policy.
Through these products and services, we offer policy makers a unique opportunity to
create and consult their communities simultaneously.
We are also providing educational tools to policy makers and their communties through Policy Pilots, because we want to transform public attitudes towards policy in the long term.
AND WHO ARE WE?
We are a team of consultants who formed The Projection Room - a project management consultancy company that makes project[ions] happen. We are committed
to helping people achieve their project[ion]s for a better world.
The Projection Room is also Australia's second certified B Corporation and an evolving "conscious company" in pursuit of a better way of doing business.
We believe in "cooperative disruption" - a belief that guides our involvement in socially conscious projects and enterprises.
Our priorities are...
Policy. Democracy. Social Enterprise. Strategic thinking. Honesty. Enthusiasm. "The Big Picture". B Corps. Thinking. Perspective. Disruption. Productivity. Entrepreneurship. Action. Community. Humility. Initiative. Creativity.
Innovation. Commitment. Results. Diversity. Empowerment. Running. The World. Ideas. Change.
