My name is Heather Mudd and I am working on helping an elderly, widow named Judith take care of her home by doing some small repairs and clean up.
This started as a community project with my church, Northview Church in Carmel, IN. My group of friends from church endeavor to work on a community project every year know as Good Neighbor Weekend.
This year, we decided to reach out to a senior help center called Prime Life Enrichment, located in our community of Carmel, Indiana along with United Way of Indianapolis, IN. Through these two organizations I was introduced to an elderly widow living
on her own who needed some small repairs done around her home. One of the projects she needed done was to repair her leaky porch roof. Some of the other projects she needed help with were to reomve some debris from her yard, and to clean up the siding on
her home as well as some light housework. We were able to complete most of the repairs, but as we began to investigate the roof leak, it became apparent that it would need to be totally replaced with a new aluminum unit. The cost of this exceeded our budget,
but we did not want to abandon the project or Juidith. As we talked further with Judith, she also mentioned taking down a large dead tree that is in her front yard.
I now see there are many people in our community that are in similar circumstances to Judith and I would like to help them stay in their homes, while remaining safe and cared for. Please consider donating to the cost of a new aluminum porch roof for Judith
and if our ultimate goal is met, removal of the dead tree too. Hopefully, together we can take care of Judith and many others.
