What Currently Exists:
For many decades before and after birth of the new nation of South Sudan, mothers and children have continued to struggle health wise. The poor health care during and after pregnancies, together with limited access to health care services, directly affects
both maternal mortality and infant mortality rates, and South Sudan’s records are among the highest in the World.
Currently, in Pacong and the surrounding villages, women deliver their babies on the roads or at home with no midwives present to assist. Only one person in Pacong is a trained traditional birthing attendant, and there are no trained midwives. In this area,
one in four children dies by the age of five.
This project can change that. LifeCare Clinic will provide care, equipment and space necessary to deliver babies safely. It will improve the health and well-being of women and children and decrease paediatric and maternal mortality. It will address the
medical and emotional needs of women and children, and work to improve their lives economically, socially and physically.
What Needs To Happen:
As primary caretakers for their children, husbands and extended family members, women are at the centre of family life, yet often have limited or no access to proper healthcare, including maternal and reproductive services. By reducing the devastating
impact of preventable and treatable diseases and the risks of childbirth, our work will not only improve the lives of mothers and children, but also improve living conditions for their families and their local community.
$20,000 Tipping Point Goal
Reaching our Tipping Point...
Will allow us to start the construction of our facility, which includes the basic building structure and separate areas for treatment rooms and waiting rooms.
Reaching our Total Funding Goal will allow us to accomplish our full vision...
We will use the funds to buy construction materials from Uganda and ship them to South Sudan, build the clinic, buy independent energy, water, storage and waste disposal solutions in order to reduce the impact on poor local infrastructure. We will drill
a well on-site. Solar panels will be installed to provide electricity sufficient to power a generator, lights, medical equipment and a refrigerator to store medications. The clinic will raise awareness of local health issues, and give mothers pre & post-natal
care. In villages, it is estimated 530 women die per 100,000 live births.
Assuming four women per day go through the clinic in one year’s time,
1,460 women will be saved in our first year of operation. LifeCare clinic will not only save mothers' lives, newborns will be saved as well. Join the tribe and help make this dream a reality!
