At
Women.Design.Build we work to foster a community where the women of Austin can collaboratively build skills, friendship and confidence through design and building activities.
Today, we would like to take
our mission one step further
by offering our resources to single mothers of the Saint Louise House (SLH) community: a nonprofit organization that provides affordable housing and essential services to mothers and children experiencing homelessness in Central Texas. Saint Louise House “believes
in women -- in their power to transform their lives, their families and the Austin community”. A partnership with St. Louise House is both natural and needed, as we are both strongly invested in the empowerment of women.
With the funds raised through this campaign, we hope to offer
a Handy.Women Program
that will teach SLH residents how to use basic hand
tools and tackle common home maintenance projects. By empowering single mothers to feel confident when addressing these projects, they will save money, be able to provide a safer home for their family, and will be prepared to exercise their newly acquired
skills in their future place of residence.
