We believe health is Wealth. Two of the collective members worked on an organic farm to gain knowledge and teach young people about organic farming & urban gardens.
Our girls program plans to build a sculptural garden: "The Garden Face." The face will be made of flowering herbs and vegetables. The eyelashes will be made of long grass, with flowering plants for the hair, reused ceramic tiles for the teeth, and dinner
plates for eyes. We will build the shape from a large mound of soil. Passers- by will be able to sit on the benches to be created as ears for the three dimensional edible sculpture.
We are also working on a WindowFarms project inside our gallery. By beginning WindowFarms in the winter, the vegetables can be transplanted and knowledge will be gained about growing practices from beginning to end. Most of the youth we serve live in an
urban environment, have some knowledge of basic healthy living practices and have been integral in the creation of the project!
We look forward to assisting the young people from fruition to creation. By completing the project, youth will be exposed to alternative vegetable growing, urban farming and landscape art. The community will have the opportunity to witness the imagination
of the young people and see their community enhanced by the floral and sculptural aspects of the garden.
The final highlight of the Garden is the signage. We will create and paint signage for the artwork and honoring those who have been integral in helping us in our endeavor.
