I am launching this campaign to raise money to attend the
University of Pennsylvania’s Social Impact Fellowship 2013. This is a two-week innovation and social impact retreat hosted by The Schwartz Family Penn Social Impact House.
Budding social entrepreneurs like me will have an opportunity to live, learn, grow, and partner together to develop social enterprise projects and organizations designed to impact our society for the better. By connecting our creative
abilities with resources and mentorship, the fellowship will empower us to take our ventures to the next level of success!
The total cost of attendance is $2800.
I have always dreamed of a career in medicine and public health. While pursuing my graduate degree last spring, my master's thesis and presentation, "Evaluating Liberia's National Health & Social Welfare Plan 2011-2021" won first
place in the 2013 Dean's Day presentations at Pitt Public Health. It began as an academic project, but it has become clear that there is a great need and a great opportunity to address the emerging healthcare systems in West Africa.
Thus, for the past 8 months I have been connecting, strategizing, and planning in order to pursue this opportunity and create a social enterprise,
Health Africa. Our mission is to not only promote the purposeful management of healthcare resources in Africa but also promote health and wellness for all while transforming the overall image of health in Africa through social awareness and
media campaigns. As the project comes to fruition, my visions of a universally accessible, equitable, and quality healthcare system have become more entrenched in my moral fabric.
When I learned of the Social Impact Fellowship, it seemed too good to be true. What serendipity! As a Penn Alum I have the opportunity to connect and partner with like-minded entrepreneurs as well as a variety of resources, mentorship,
and investors. By attending this fellowship, I will be able to successfully launch Health Africa, and drive comprehensive health care policy planning, administration, and implementation, touching the lives of millions.
Ultimately, raising this money and accepting this fellowship will:
-Allow me to attend the Aug 12-25th, 2013 program
-Connect and learn from other social entrepreneurs
-Empower me to develop and launch Health Africa successfully
-Help transform healthcare across West Africa and beyond!
I will be forever grateful for your support!!
