WHO WE ARE:
www.cto.world
CTO is a capacity building organisation - we support local initiatives and organisations to become sustainable. Essential for sustainability is to work together and to create collaborations and partnerships that could contribute to positive social change. Two of the organisations CTO assist have come together in a great collaboration with the aim of facilitating children in an after school program in Guguletu, Cape Town. The youth is trained by CTO in leadership and management skills, and they are now practicing their skills in the after school program “Building Room of Love” (BRL). BRL is run by a dedicated woman from Guguletu and she capacitates 43 kids in dance, gardening and homework support. CTO’s role is to support both organisations towards sustainability, and to facilitate and assist in the current collaboration, aiming for a sustainable partnership between the two organisations. CTO creates a platform for both parties to reach higher ground, and to assist in development of BRL for a stronger after school program, with good leaders and with good role models who can inspire young minds in Guguletu for a positive future!
When working with children, the responsibility of First Aid Knowledge is essential!

DEFINITION of a SUSTAINABLE YOUTH ORGANISATION:
A responsible and educated youth movement who arrange positive intervention- and prevention activities for kids in the community, where normally such activities are rare to find.
WHY FIRST AID MATTERS:
The ability to save lives! CTO grow leaders and role models who give back to other kids and youth within their community. To be a confident leader, who also can provide safety and take actions in case of an emergency is important, especially in a community where the standard of medical healthcare is low. By contributing to this crowdfunding, you contribute to education, responsible leadership and the ability for those leaders to save lives in cases of emergency!

BACKGROUND and FACTS
A lot of youth in Guguletu struggle to make a positive way through life. Guguletu is a community in the outskirt of Cape Town, South Africa, where youth NOT in employment, education or training are more than 32,4%(!). The lack of responsible adults, lack of good education and lack of positive activities pushes youth out from society and they tend to end up in negative behaviour such as drug- and alcohol abuse and a seeking of belonging in criminal gang related activities. Stats show that Guguletu and Nyanga were in 2015 the murder capitals of South Africa, with the total of 463 murders! We need to take a stand against this negative behaviour, and rather create positive platforms and include youth in those positive activities within the community.
