MY STORY
My name is JT Davis and I'm the founder of Camp Good Life. I am from South Central Los Angeles and currently a Television Producer in Washington, DC. I love TV, so much so that I studied it at Howard University. I got my start in the industry as a Production Assistant and from that opportunity my career has blossomed. Being behind the camera exposed me to how powerful and impactful it is to tell stories, to tell your own story, but when I looked around I didn't see many people who looked like me.
WHY IT MATTERS
That's why I am starting Camp Good Life. I think it is important for children from underrepresented and underserved communities to have access to opportunities, to have access to the media industry and have access to tell their stories.
OUR PROJECT
Camp Good Life is a three day residential camp, we take students out of their community and place them in a three day crash course on how to become a Producer. We target children between the ages of 12-17, and the most exciting part about this camp is the 17 year old students who show promise will receive internships at production companies in the Washington, DC area.
At Camp Good Life kids will attend workshops giving them basic skills to take an idea from concept to completion. Some students will have an opportunity to learn how to code and create an application. People can download the Camp Good Life Application to view projects produced by students.
All children engage in outdoor activities that complement classroom learning all while having fun in the sun.
OUR TEAM
The Camp Good Life Team are television production professionals actively engaged in mentorship and shaping the culture of the next generation of media.
