ugs to two conferences; the Marine Litter Conference In Berlin April 10-12, 2013 and the Blue Economy Congress in Madrid April 24-25, 2013.
These specific events are by invitation only and UGS was invited to participate. There, we will pitch our idea-solution to socially responsible investors, industry, and politicians.
Attendance to these conferences will help expose the concept to multiple industries, generate awareness, and develop potential partners and customers.
Our StartSomeGood Fundraising Campaign won't end until both conferences have already come and gone and because it is short notice, we took out a loan to be able to participate.
However, UGS is a volunteer, grassroots organization and we urgently request your support so that we are able to refill our coffers and repay the loan and also to enable us to attend more, and other conferences and carry
out our plan in a timely manner.
The budget breakdown of the traveling, food and accommodation costs to fly one person from Vancouver, Canada are as follows:

Jose Luis Gutierrez-Garcia, Co-Founder of UGS was a key speaker at the first Waste Free Oceans Conference in Brussels on March 7, 2013.
The WFO conference brought together high level people from the EU Commission, the EU Parliament, private companies, recyclers, and the fishing sector in addition to private companies and international experts from around the world to discuss the problem
of ocean waste plastic and how to remedy it.
The WFO conference provided UGS with a great deal of exposure and opened the door to companies and governments who might be interested in investing and funding the development of UGS' operations and technologies, and it also resulted in invitations to the
Marine Litter Conference in Berlin and the Blue Economy Congress in Madrid.

$16,500 USD will purchase a desktop-size plastic to fuel conversion machine that we will use to take to schools, universities and government officials to demonstrate the process of transforming land-based and marine waste plastics into petroleum.
This machine converts plastic food wrapping, DVD cases, supermarket bags, bottle caps and styrofoam food containers into oil that can be used in generators right in front of your eyes.
The process is closed loop so there are no emissions, we can show it inside offices and classrooms; and the byproducts are water and minimal amount of CO2.
