Small charities do amazing work but they have a big problem. They can’t afford good photographers to help them tell their story. Without a story, you can’t fundraise. Without funds you can’t carry on.
I am looking to raise £15,000 to fund 5 trips to visit 8 small charities in 2017. These trips will provide the charities working in Africa and Asia with thousands of images, videos and stories that will transform the way they raise awareness and get funding for their incredible work.
Help me give opportunities to these charities so they get the attention they deserve and can continue with their life changing work.
Watch the 3 minute film at the top of the page to meet the people you could be helping. Learn about the charities who are supporting their communities, see what I do and how we're helping, and have the opportunity to give. Thank you!
Five Talents, Kenya, 2015
I’m also going to mentor and give opportunities to join me on these trips to photographers, writers and filmmakers based in the UK, Africa and Asia, so even more inspiring stories can be told and more lives changed.
By investing in this project you can help support charities that don’t have the resources, funds or media support of the big charities. Small charities that have huge hearts to see poverty stricken communities, full of incredible people, changed for good.
My name is Adam. I live in St Albans near London in the UK. I work as a designer and photographer but my real passion is photography. I just absolutely love taking photos. Especially photos that can make a real difference.
In the last 7 years I have made 36 visits to East Africa and Asia, flown the equivalent of 12 times round the world, spent more than 1 year abroad documenting the work of 12 small charities in 9 countries and gifted over 40,000 photos.
I have photographed and filmed in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Rwanda, Zambia, Ghana, India and Sri Lanka, as well as the UK.
I am not paid for my time, work, accommodation or travel and so to continue providing visual resources, help and assistance to small charities across Africa and Asia I am looking for your help to make it happen.
Salt of the Earth, India, 2016
Over the last 2 years my work has been supported by crowdfunding campaigns. I told my story to the world and so many people have supported me. They invested over £23,000. And what a difference it has made! One charity said my pictures were key to them changing 25,000 lives. That’s incredible!

About Taking Pictures, Changing Lives
Taking Pictures, Changing Lives is a non profit Community Interest Company.
Working with UK & International charities, to provide high quality photography and film footage, we help communities in some of the poorest countries in the world.
By sharing the stories of these communities, and bringing the work of the charities to life visually, we help transform the way they get attention, raise awareness and increase their funding. The charities that we support haven’t many resources of their own; yet they help restore dignity, purpose and hope to people who can then sustain livelihoods, gain education and provide futures for their communities.
