Our History
TNS was founded in 2015 by two friends who met at Camp PALS, a camp for young adults with Down syndrome. Their initial goal was to help their friends with disabilities find opportunities after high school. . TNS was founded in March of 2015 with the main goal of creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities after the transition out of high school.
Our Team
TNS is a 100% volunteer run organization since our inception. Our Board of Directors led by Ricky Price consists of: Sherry Turetzky, Emily Vollrath, Jennifer Weinstein, Maddie Watson, and Christina Argust.
In addition, Executive Director & Co-founder Josh Fields leads a team of volunteers and interns in the completion of the day to day operations of TNS. Sarah Washerstein serves TNS as our Outreach Coordinator, and has had a huge impact in the growth of TNS.
Our Work and Goals
TNS has successfully developed a Resource Directory that families can use to locate services in the state of Pennsylvania that correlate with the transition out of high school. In 2018, the Board of Directors have initiated a plan to continue to expand our advocacy and reach by: increasing the resources offered on our free database by 300%, and by launching a video blog designed to raise awareness about the struggles and successes individuals with disabilities face throughout the transition process.
In addition, our team is working hard to host our very own Transition conference in the Greater Philadelphia Area that plans on targeting key issues and topics related to the transitional process.
