Introduction:
The ball of Human Kindness is on it's courageous way to the White House, to ask our Commander in Chief to help us pick up the ball against cyber-torment & bullying.
Alone, ridiculed, outcast for your Uniqueness to the point of true isolation? You are not alone! I have walked in your shoes. I am that voice which will help students to learn about: Ownership, Acceptance and
Kindness.
The ball represents a child, we need to pick it up to save lives:
- One Moment
- One Person
- One Kindness, is all it takes to help someone go from a negative space to a positive place.
BE the difference!
The concept behind the ball:
The ball of Kindness campaign started on Nov 22nd, in Tulare California. Because that was the day of the 50th commemoration of JFK.
His famous quote: "ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what YOU can do for your country". I try truly to live by that quote and thought it part of the ball as we all need to pull together to create
an environment safe and kind enough for future generations to be able to thrive. To dare to play, dare to live, dare to be...
What I do:
Every week together with my PR group and Manager and Assistant we map out where the ball is going to go this week. Sometimes it is through phone calls and schools asking us to visit and sometimes it is the media
that pulls us towards a city. Basically we will want to visit every school and every college in this Nation. Yes, I know this is very bold, but then again so is this epidemic. It has taken proportions that I can no longer ignore and which I hope people will
understand it touches all of us. We all know a child, and if we do not help them right now, statistics show that the victim of bullying could turn into a bully in the work force later.
I have an even bolder statement to make and that is; "the bully and the victim are mirror images of each other". I wish I could of been empowered with that knowledge at the age of 6. So teach kindness as a choice
you make daily is crucial for students of all ages to understand.
Last but not least I hope not only to accomplish visiting all the educational organizations but to bring a greater awareness to parents and educators so that they can help to reinforce what the student learned
through our assemblies.
A few words about why I am so passionate about Kindness:
I was born in Pakistan and adopted by a couple in the Netherlands, back then, these two countries worlds apart. And although lucky to receive a family, my life in the Western world was not as simple as you can
imagine. Adversity was part of my daily routine trying desperately to fit in and belong in a new culture. I know first hand what it is like to be shunned, ridiculed for your Uniqueness which is never going to change! I have come to understand my own journey
of belonging to e and of self acceptance. I believe when we miss the essential foundation, our lives have a rocky start and thus commencing a life with a lot of bad choices.
I go out there every day wanting to teach to anyone who wants to listen to take Ownership of your Uniqueness and to Accept yourself.
Only then can you "Dare to Step into YOU".
