In a life too short, Casey Schulman left a remarkable imprint. She was a loving daughter, caring sister, inspiring friend, and most importantly, exemplified what it truly means to be a selfless individual. Casey tragically passed away in December 2012, while
on the Semester at Sea study abroad program as a senior at the University of Virginia. Everyone that was fortunate enough to know her, even briefly meet her, can agree she had a positive affect on individuals that will never be matched. Her curiosity about
the world was contagious, and her work ethic never went unnoticed. What Casey enjoyed most was being involved with others in a meaningful way - sharing, teaching, laughing and helping others. To put it simply, she absolutely loved her life.
The Casey Schulman Foundation is based on the countless inspiring qualities that defined Casey. We are raising money to provide college scholarships to high school students who share this same zest for life. The scholarship will be open to current students
at J.E.B. Stuart High School, Casey's high school in Falls Church, Virginia. Our goal is to provide a $20,000 scholarship, spread across 4 years, to one individual - an individual whose passion for anything and everything is infinite.
Our fundraiser will end on April 27th, the day of the Nike Women's Half Marathon in Washington, D.C. This will be the second year in a row we will be running and raising money for the Casey Schulman Foundation - a very fitting fundraising event, as Casey
was an avid runner. We encourage everyone to come and support our team that Sunday...our bright yellow shirts that read "Thankful" will be hard to miss.
The love and support for this wonderful cause is overwhelming, and we cannot wait for another successful venture. Thank you to everyone who has and will contribute to our goal. Shine on!
