We are #Recipe4Change
We are taking a successful business model that works and bringing it to the city. The model is simple, a community kitchen that serves breakfast and lunch which is made from food that has been rescued from supermarkets and prepared, cooked and served by
job seekers in the work for the dole program.
We provide a training & vocational environment for both job seekers and young adults with disabilities. The participants gain relevant skills across a diverse range of occupation groups with a range of activities that build transferable skills not only for
work, but for life in general.
We rescue food so that we #feedbelliesnotbins and in turn, help the environment and those less fortunate to eat on a pay-as-you-feel or pay-it-forward basis.
Putting a van on the road and employing a driver is the first step. We will bring a van full of produce into the city once a week whilst we look for suitable premises to form a food hub. With a van on the road, we will be able to provide a job for one person
on a part-time basis, providing security and the first opportunity of many.
We will provide hearty belly filling breakfasts and yummy hunger satisfying lunches. Our bigger vision and goal is to find premises, but we have to start somewhere. The van will get the momentum going.
In consultation with the City of Melbourne and in conjunction with our partners SecondBite and Global Consulting Group we will research the best location to deliver life changing experiences through healthy cooked meals.
Once we find the location, Melbourne Chefs & My Other Kitchen will assist us with the set up. We will develop the menu(s) and work with the Government to place job seekers, then we will open the doors with SkilledUp providing resources and educators to assist
us train our job seekers and we will also provide work placement for the cookery students of MCIE.
Would you like to be part of our amazing goal? You can, all you have to do is spread the word to all your friends, family and business colleagues to donate, RIGHT NOW!
