Our Aim
Our aim is to make every child smile like the lovely boy above! There are so many benefits that music can bring for any child so, Music Business students from Middlesex University aim to use live music as a way to enrich the lives of disabled children using a morning full of different interactive activities. We are working closely with The Village School (link below) in Brent Cross, London. The school cares for a wide range of complex needs. They are an inclusive school celebrating diversity.

Overview
The event itself will take place in The Village School, the 22nd March, and will have an Easter theme to get the children excited. Our team will work with about 40- 50 children. We will have interactive workshops where we sing and play music with the children, giving them the opportunity to play with some of the instruments and have fun. Carrie Lennard - Special Educational Needs Music Consultant, will also be holding a music workshop to show how music can be therapeutic for children with any disability. We will also provide a cookie and cake decorating station, a face painting station and an arts & crafts station. To end the morning activities, the children will gather in the hall for a live music performance by Middlesex University Music Business, and Music students.
Budget
Money is needed for the following reason:
- Materials for the arts & crafts station (paint, balloons, thick crayons) - £20
- Face paint - £10
- Cookies, cakes, chocolate eggs and cake decoration supplies - £40
Any supplies left over will be given to the school and their children.
Our Team
Mary - An Irish student with a passion for music, and the many benefits music brings for disabled children. Mary has played a wide range of instruments since the age of four. She grew up caring for her younger brother who has Patau Syndrome, which is what stemmed her passion for working with disabled children. Mary has since learnt Lamh Sign Language as a way of communicating with her brother.
Iva - A Bulgarian girl who loves to sing and use her talent to help others. Iva is a very talented performer who has appeared on the Bulgarian X Factor. Her true passion now lies with event management.
Simona - A Slovakian student who works hard and drives our team to perfection. Simona has a very sound business mind, great enthusiasm and amazing determination to go beyond our goals. She always ensures we cross our t's and dot our i's!
Corina - An American gal with a creative mind. Corina is the fun and positive one of our group. If we stress, brings us all back down to earth by reminding us of what we have done right, and not what we have done wrong!
Natalia - A Polish student who has experience in managing a lot of events. Natalia makes sure we think of all possible routes to take in our event planning to ensure we end up with the best possible outcome!
This is a great opportunity for us, as young students to get involved and work in our local community. Please feel free to donate as much or as little as you want. Do not feel pressured to donate either, even sharing our story would be hugely appreciated. Every little helps!
