Ten years ago, Ambon (a city in Maluku island, Indonesia) was suffering from community violence involving the Muslim and Christian community. Even though the conflict is now over, the social relationship is not totally recovered. Just a month ago a riot
reoccured. According to the World Bank Report, 90% of violent conflict in the world today are reoccurring/repeated conflicts. Actually, in the past, Ambon society had a strong tradition of brotherhood namely Pela Gandong.
This project will involve Muslim and Christian children in a peace education program using creative and interactive modules. Through this program, children will gain a good understanding about peace and and can learn to avoid inherited conflict in the future.
