Who We Are
Responding to a community need, we established Oasis Home Residence on March 22, 2011. We received our nonprofit 501(c)3 status in November of 2011. Our sole purpose is to serve women living alone that cannot qualify for a market rate apartment or social
services assistance to obtain a place because they don’t have dependent children. By choice or by chance, many women will be single for a portion of their adult lives. Women who are alone because of divorce, death of a spouse, single by choice or alone in
a marriage (through physical separation, disease, or estrangement) will discover residency in Oasis Home Residence nurturing kinships by networking with other women.

What We Do
Since our inception we have become known to many of the local housing agencies as ideal for women that have the desire to improve, heal and grow. Oasis Home Residence meets the need of women with goals and purposeful living. We are a place of peacefully
stability that is missing for the women here to keep moving forward. Our Model is based on a single woman, with part-time employment, spousal maintenance income, unemployment income or social security. The income will range from $740 to $1200 per month. Our
rental rate is base on a third of this averaged range of income. The income range we use will not qualify an individual as destitute or impoverished enough for subsidized housing without dependents and the income range mentioned is not enough income to maintain
an apartment and all expenses that go with apartment living in this area.
Oasis Home Residence is historically a rooming home. All of the rooms are furnished and the residents have utilities included, access to cable and free Wi-Fi. The common areas include four bathrooms, a commercial kitchen, a large dining/living area, a student
lounge with computers and printers, a small gym with exercise equipment, and a TV room for movie night. We maintain the building and grounds for safety and cleanliness and we make sure all common areas are furnished for comfort and quiet enjoyment. When
a resident arrives to her room for the first time, she will find a queen or full bed in her rented room fully furnished and staged with new linen and towels
Why You Should Help
Research suggests that people who have stable, decent homes have an easier time holding down a job and overcoming barriers. There also is evidence that a mix of quality housing options helps make communities more vibrant, diverse and livable. Millions of
renters today have trouble finding a decent, stable and affordable home—especially one with ready access to work, transit and schools. Part of the problem is that wages at the bottom of the economic ladder have not kept pace with rising rents. The stock of
low-cost rental homes also has fallen due to demolition, condominium conversion and the expiration of government subsidies and affordability restrictions. This is especially true for women who do not have children and cannot be classified or qualified to participate
in Government sponsored home subsidy programs.
