As the vision continues to grow in its clarity, a new area of emphasis for the nonprofit has emerged.
Announcing the arrival of our newest member: MOM CARE
MOM CARE, a new initiative of Center for Soul Care aims to provide more support for perinatal women. In its first phase, Center for Soul Care will be providing prenatal workshops to prepare women for the transition into motherhood and life
once baby arrives. The workshops will provide moms with much needed pampering (chiropractic adjustments, massages, foot soaks, nutritional counseling et. al.) as well as presentations that educate women on the postpartum period so they can anticipate and
plan for the ups and downs of life with a new baby.
In order to properly fulfill this vision, Center for Soul Care purposes to raise the funds necessary to train the director, Lanie Timko, in maternal mental health care.
Postpartum Support International
provides the certification program.
An additional area of study in trauma therapy also needs to be pursued as there is a correlation between PTSD and postpartum depression.
PESI provides the training conferences needed for Lanie to gain greater efficacy in this area of counseling.
The Birth Plan- Developing this vision feels a whole lot like pregnancy - with trimesters to go through as we wait for something in an embrionic state to fully develop.
First Trimester: Fund Raise for Trainings (feels a lot like morning sickness to be honest with you)
Second Trimester: Study Study Study (the fun part where the vision really develops)
Third Trimester: Plan the Workshops (the pushing through part- where grit matters)
Estimated Date of Delivery: Launch the First Prenatal Workshop in March
How You Can Help
Moms need resources; relationships, strategies, support, and one another. The specific issues moms face are often not talked about because they feel ashamed for admitting the struggle in the midst of the beautiful miracle of pregnancy and newborn babies.
Or they feel the shame of still reeling in the loss of a child because they sense the pressure from others to just move on. Center for Soul Care wants to help moms feel more prepared and empowered, complete and supported, and normal and loved in
their unique journeys. Here is how you can help:
*** Donate.
*** Share the Mom Care campaign over social media.
*** Send personal emails or make phone calls to people you think would be passionate about bringing this phase of the vision into being.
