On behalf of Operation Mobilise, a team of runners representing the organisation will run a 21km half-marathon in the name of charity to raise funds & awareness for the homeless population of Australia.
Mobilise is a movement uniting the youth to develop long-term solutions for those experiencing homelesness.
Mobilise heads into the heart of the problem, developing deeper relationships with the homeless, raising awareness of the situation that many people find themselves in daily & identifying how we can make a difference. We seek to mobilise together the youth of Victoria, a group often disengaged from societal issues but with the capacity to bring change.
Heading on monthly city missions, we distribute care packages to the homeless & spend time talking to those in need. Talking to those on the streets we realised that it's not simply food or money that they needed but many felt disassociated and 'looked down' upon.
The team member will wear a smile costume while running the half-marathon, raising awareness to the fact that something that we can all give as simple as a smile or a brief conversation goes a long-way for those struggling. By stepping out of their comfort zone and pushing themselves to their limits, he hopes to inspire others to join together to push for change.
With over 100,000 people reported to live in a state of homelessness around our nation, it’s clearly a problem that can no longer be overlooked – starting a conversation for change must be the 1st step forward.
Homelessness is a situation that shouldn't exist in 'the worlds most livable city', everyone deserves a fair chance at life.
We would truly appreciate your donation for this challenge all in the name of charity.
Help us change our country, by changing one life at a time.
