Meals with Impact is a social enterprise with a big heart.
Meals with Impact provides employment to women from migrant and refugee backgrounds, and food relief to communities in need.
It was developed by experienced chef Harris Ryan and community development specialist Nikki Blanch, in response to their shared experience running an employment based food relief program in Melbourne during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pandemic exposed Victoria’s health and social services’ inability to respectfully provide adequate food support in times of crisis. It also highlighted how much more vulnerable women were to job losses, due to persistent gender inequality.
Meals with Impact has seen first hand the positive impacts of investing in women’s development. They do this through building a supportive, nurturing work environment that fosters peer to peer learning and skill development. “What is good for gender equality is good for the economy and society as well”. - McKinsey Global Institute
Since November 2020 Meals With Impact has facilitated the production and distribution of over 30,000 culturally appropriate meals across greater Melbourne, which has generated over 25 employment opportunities for women… and we are only just getting started!
