Hi!
In 2015 we (David & Charlotte) started HATTIHATTI, a non-profit organization registered in both Sweden & Nepal. The goal was to empower women from marginalized communities through education. We believe that education & women empowerment are key ingredients to shape a more equal Nepal. Let us tell you how!
We believe a big part of learning is practicing what you learn, therefor our education is built on theory and practical training. During our one year program our students will have classes in entrepreneurship, English & mathematics with the core interest of teaching how to start and maintain a business.
Tailoring is a field most women have come across in Nepal therefor we want to build and strengthen their current knowledge with advanced tailoring classes. At our practical classes in sustainable textile we emphasize the importance of using recycled materials and thinking about a positive impact on our planet and generations to come.
During our textile classes our main focus is to teach how to make products our tailors can sell on the Nepali market, but also clothes & accessories for an international market. This is where the bow tie comes in which are made out of recycled fabrics. We wish to make a statement to be sustainable in our production & education to make a positive impact for today and tomorrow. Our products are sold on international and Nepali markets where our tailors gets to practice marketing their products. A part of the profit from these products goes in to individual saving accounts which our tailors can access when they start their own businesses.
Together with their starting funds and our educational program our tailors are certified and will have the possibility to start up their own business in their home villages.
After almost one year of hard work & dedication we reached a major milestone. Our first tailors started up their own businesses in their home villages, which confirmed that our idea worked. We are now ready and eager to give more women the same possibility. More women need to be empowered & we want to make it happen!
Will you join us?
