We have launched a project to provide children with limited resources the life changing opportunity to express themselves through the arts. Be a part of helping children enjoy the fun of artistic
expression!
Spreading Hope and Love Through the Arts
Thank you so much for visiting and considering our cause! The Kids H.O.P.E Project is about kid’s helping others pursue excellence through the arts. The "others" in this project, initiated by a
9 year-old 4th grader named Maya (a.k.a MJ), are children in her local community and around the world.
The positive impact of creativity through the arts is recognized around the world, but unfortunately, art classes are some of the first to be cut if they even exist
at all. Creativity through the arts can provide a safe outlet for children to express themselves. It is for this reason that MJ has partnered with Children's Health International to deliver Kids H.O.P.E Kits to
children of the Anum Preschool in Ghana, West Africa and to children in homeless shelters, foster care and hospitals in and around Maryland.
What is a Kit of HOPE?
A Kit of HOPE will be created for each child served by Children's Health International. Art kits, for each child, which will include basic arts and crafts supplies such as crayons, markers, scissors, construction
paper and a special journal and bookmark. The journal and bookmark will feature a logo, designed by MJ and her sister, and well as an inspirational message written by MJ, focused on having hope even when times are tough. We will also include special arts
and craft materials such as chenille sticks, watercolor paints, foam sheets and more. The more creative they get to be the better!
For the preschool in Ghana, we plan to provide a teacher's HOPE Kit with supplies for a year-long arts program so the children can be creative both at home and at school.
Arts Education is Important!
Americans for the Arts (2002) reports that arts education develops a sense of craftsmanship, quality task performance, and goal-setting—skills needed to succeed in
the classroom and beyond. For children in under resourced areas, the push is for basic education. Of course, basic education is important but these children deserve the benefits of arts education as well.
Artwork often embodies the hopes and dreams of children. Exposure to the arts can also dramatically improve one’s academic performance.
Together We Can Make a Difference!
MJ believes that even though she is 9 years old, with your help, she can make a difference. We believe you do too! With your help, we can raise the first
$1375 that launch this little idea into a real HOPE movement!
This StartSomeGood campaign is our first step at raising money to support exposure to the arts for children facing really tough life situations.
