Campaign Overview
I believe every child has something within them that allows them to survive, thrive, and excel despite adversities and socio-economic status; I call it the "Inner Hero." As adults, we recognize that children are our
future, but it is even more important that our children believe it and are equipped to accomplish their dreams and make a difference. That is why I created Inner Hero, to help young people realize their greatness and develop hope to pursue their dreams through
the power they posses within.
The Program
Inner Hero will launch its initial program in Baltimore City. Six weekly sessions will be held with youth, in 4th and 5th grades and 6th and 7th grades, and will include discussions and activities that focus on:
§ self-awareness,
§ individuality,
§ conflict management,
§ positive thinking.
The sessions will open with deep breathing and each child will be allowed to express gratitude for people in their lives and occurences that took place during the week. Sessions will close with an affirmation that
coincides with the lesson of the day.
Inner Hero’s sessions will function as a contained environment full of positive energy; however it is limited and each child must return to their reality after the program concludes. On the final day of the program,
each child will receive an Inner Hero t-shirt, certificate, and a book that contains reference material from each session, along with their individual creations from the activities.
Partnership
There is a proverb that says, “It takes a village to raise a child.” The modern day village contains friends, families, schools, programs, etc. As schools focus on academics and various youth programs also cater to
academics and/or include athletics, Inner Hero seeks to supplement those offerings by partnering with schools and aftercare programs to provide children with knowledge that will enrich them socially, academically, athletically, and in their daily lives.
Our Goal
Inner Hero’s goal is to foster children who have:
§ Heightened self-esteem
§ Enhanced self-awareness
§ Greater aptitude for success
§ Confidence to believe their dreams are possible
§ Deeper respect for themselves and others
§ Enhanced acceptance of their individuality and others
§ Greater skills to manage conflict
Our Future
Inner Hero will launch in Baltimore City, but will gradually work into other jurisdictions in the region. In the future, we would like to develop Inner Hero II where youth will be taught more advanced techniques and
go into greater detail about mindfulness and strengthening their Inner Hero.
Our biggest dream is for Inner Hero to have proven success in making a difference in the lives of children and will be developed into a packaged curriculum that can be implemented throughout the United States.
