Our Cause & Why?
Would you support a cause that provides remedies and raises awareness about men, women, and children who are victims of:
-Poverty
-Unemployment
-Poor Mental Health
-Substance Abuse/Addiction, and
-Domestic Violence
Does any of these maladies exist in your community or prevail in the life of someone you personally know? If so, members of your community or someone you know are predisposed to being homeless, if they’re not already! The above identifiers are the 5 leading
causes for homelessness; contrary to some perceptions that homelessness is attributed to laziness, criminality, or apathy. In fact, homeless studies show that homeless persons are at-risk of being victims of hate crimes and violence (http://nationalhomeless.org/publications/hatecrimes/hatecrimes2011.pdf).
Moreover, local attention has been given to the fact that homeless women are frequently victims of both physical and sexual violence (http://www.star-telegram.com/2011/10/31/3489141/among-fort-worths-homeless-women.html).

Who We Are
Huma-Faith is an interfaith-based 501 C 3 non-profit entity aiming to assist individuals with developing lifestyles congruent with their moral beliefs. We find that people internally struggle with who they really are when experiencing certain life
difficulties. Therefore it is our goal to provide the most basic necessities (shelter, clothing, food, etc.) and average amenities (e.g. TV, Computers, internet, cell phones, etc.) that afford balance, a level playing field, and conditions where either the
underprivileged or underserved populations in our community can extract their innate resilience to overcome obstacles. Presently, Huma-Faith provides both transitional and supportive housing and seek to provide modalities conducive for personal growth and
development.
For us, transitional housing means a “Group Home” setting—perhaps an older single family dwelling converted for group living in a middle-class neighborhood. Supportive Housing translates our agreements with certain apartment complexes that allows us to advocate
for low-incomes persons that may have barriers to housing, e.g. poor rental history, poor credit, criminal history, etc. In addition to housing, we do our best to mentor, counsel, guide, educate, and provide life skills where life can be managed on life terms.

My Moral Responsibility
My name is Baquee Sabur. I'm the Founder & Chief Administrator of Huma-Faith.
Huma-Faith has a broad mission that embraces more than the homeless issue; however, the mission of Huma-Faith was borne from my personal experiences, further shaped by personal academic pursuits which became my personal therapy! Huma-Faith presently provides
transitional and supportive housing for the homeless population. When asked what inspires me, I typically share my personal experiences, i.e. I cannot think of too many struggles presently endured or in the pasts of our residents that I haven’t endured and
overcome personally.
Subsequent to my service in the US Army, I suffered the paralyses of poverty, homelessness, decline in mental health, addiction, and most maladies suffered by the homeless population. Public/government services are great and known for their pharmaceutical
remedies, but a cure wasn’t afforded until I took advantage of opportunities for education. Academia became my therapeutic course--a way to understand myself, my immediate circumstances, and to gain a more acceptable world view. Therefore, I was able to succeed
in a few disciplines;
http://humafaith.org/what---who-.html. In other words, I finally realized that I was able to do something about my condition. About 12 years ago, I started thinking about how I could share my gradual successes with others experiencing similar situations.
Thus, Huma-Faith was borne April, 2010. I’m most intimate with the 5 leading causes of homelessness described above. I’ve more than studied the issue—I’ve lived it! Therefore, I believe it is my moral responsibility to inspire agencies of change that will
bring about the advancement of populations from which I come from! This is my

A Recap of our Appeal
We reiterate that homeless people are in need of more than shelter. Though shelter is the place to start, we must challenge the root causes of homelessness. Facing such challenges means finding innovative ways to provide education, career and vocational
training, therapeutic counseling, greater access to social services, and thrive in environments that will improve psychological strength.
Upon reaching our tipping point, we will be able to provide access to professional counselors and clinicians and social workers; acquire adequate transportation for appointments, work programs, and job interviews; provide adequate clothing for success (job
interview, work attire, etc.); provide greater access to computers and the internet for skill development, resume' writing, access to social services, job search, education, etc. Reaching our goal in this campaign will significantly improve housing conditions
and provide an expansion of services, esp. for women and children.

It would be awesome if you all would bolster this campaign not just by donating, but also by spreading the word through whatever networks and social media you use. Please click the share button and help us get the word out!
