Toby's Team wants to write and illustrate a children's book about Priscilla Orilla Delaney Van Pelter and her dog, Toby. We think a good way to reach the wholeness and purpose that everyone cherishes is through the images and rhymes of a children's book.
The simplicity of the story cuts through the activities, demands, work, and responsibilities that so often overwhelm our sense of wholeness and purpose.
The books tells the story of how important it is to our wholeness to remain connected to the lives around us, human, animal, and plant. It teaches how lives and communities are enriched by these connections and encourages its readers to look for ways to
form and nurture them in their lives and their communities.
The goal of the book is to get people thinking about how important the connections are in their lives and to encourage them to develop these kinds of connections in all aspects of their lives.
$3,500 Tipping Point Goal
The funds raised during this campaign will assist Toby's Team in publishing a small colorful children's book about the work of Toby's Team.
The amount of the campaign up to the tipping point will fund the the writing, illustration, and first run of the book. The writer will receive $1500 as a stipend to permit her to write the book; the illustrator will receive $1000 to create illustrations
for the book; and $1000 will be used to publish the first run of books.
The balance of $4750 will fund the publication, marketing and distribution costs of a larger run of the book. Printing cost estimates range from $6 to $10 per book for a full color paper bound edition. So about $3000 will go toward printing costs. Another
$1000 will go to distribution costs of sending the book to places like Amazon.com to establish outlets for sale. The remainder, $750, will be used to send copies to animal welfare non-profits, veterinary clinics and schools, and animal law student associations.
