The inspiration for our brand comes from the word DOCHAA which means 'the first type of shoe made by the indigenous people in the Indo-Tibetan belt'.
At DOCHAA, we have committed to preserve and promote the rich culture and heritage of Nepal, as we embark on a mission to give our products a unique Nepali Identity. Through a beautiful fusion of traditional weaving and modern designs, DOCHAA products are a homage to our vibrant culture that we want to share with the world.
DOCHAA is a socially conscious brand that supports local artisans and craftspeople. Every DOCHAA shoe is a symbol of our identity and our pride. Our vision is to be a global brand that promotes fair labour practices and challenges the stigma around the profession of shoemaking in our country.
Our crowdfunding project showcases DOCHAA’s latest products and designs, skillfully handcrafted by our artisans and made with close attention to detail, design and performance.
You can make an invaluable contribution in providing dignified livelihoods to artisan communities and help us preserve our rich tradition and art by supporting us. As we grow and expand our production with your help, we will be able to impact many more lives.

Our idea took root while doing relief work in areas devastated by the earthquake in Nepal in 2015. This calamity not only destroyed homes and claimed lives, but also the rich heritage of Nepali art which was already on a decline. We were heartbroken to see the damage caused by the earthquake and really wanted to do something about it. We wanted to find a way of rekindling the connection between Nepalese people, especially the youth, and our beautiful traditions. That is why we created DOCHAA in 2017.
We are driving grassroots innovation and creating local employment while fostering sustainable and ethical practices. We hope to help achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal # 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
Crafted with love in Nepal, our creations meet global quality standards. We use traditional fabrics to produce innovative designs in collaboration with the local artisans and weavers, and shoemakers.
Currently, we source traditionally handwoven fabrics from women weavers in the villages of Nepal and directly employ 20 men and women in two workshops giving them a dependable source of income.
As we expand our business and diversify into new products, we are committed to supporting more artisans and craftspeople.
"Buna" in the Nepali language means "woven" and these Buna Dochaa are woven out of Dhaka fabric which is the oldest Nepali fabric widely used for traditional and contemporary clothing designs.

The word Mang is derived from Tamang where "Ta" means " horse" and "Mang" means "the rider". Mang Dochaa is crafted with Syama fabric which is inspired by the traditional attire of the Tamang indigenous community of Nepal.
"Nakha" means "festival" in the Newar indigenous language. Nakha Dochaa is made with lawa fabric used in the traditional attire of the Newar indigenous community worn during their festivities.

Embarking on this crowdfunding journey wouldn’t be possible without the help of some amazing people and organizations who believe in our mission and our values.
We greatly appreciate the support provided by the Youth Co: Lab, an initiative co-led by UNDP and Citi Foundation. Their support and advice for our business and the crowdfunding campaign have been incredibly helpful. It has enabled DOCHAA to take this exciting step in its entrepreneurship journey.
