Lacking: A basic knowledge of the world's major faith and belief traditions. You may have studied "comparative religions" at university, but most kids grow up learning only about the family's religion, or none at all.
BARAZA's team of experts want to bridge the knowledge gap and is producing educational materials for parents and for use in the classroom.
On offer: The concept of this small multilingual booklet is to link children’s natural passion for drawing and puzzles with a positive educational experience. The motto therefore is “Have fun learning about the world‘s major religions with these creative designs and simple challenges!”
Of the thousands of coloring books available for children, only a few deal with religion, and generally depict only one religion. This coloring book is unique in bringing together the most widespread faiths: Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Sikhism.
Young children who are familiar with some basic knowledge about religions, such as symbols and places of worship, encourages religious tolerance and respect for common values.
This book was developed by educators and artists, in consultation with the St Philips Centre and religious leaders in Leicester, UK. The first edition (32 pages, 21cm x 21cm), with labels in English, Spanish, German and Swahili is now available.
Your donation will help us place this coloring book in the hands of eager learners, and will be made for free as download from our website.
With your help the next edition will be produced in French, Arabic, Malay and English. We are planning to have 24 languages in all, so that 95% of the world's children can be included.
