In local communities all over the world there is a need for change. Our current systems and our current way of life is no longer working. The challenges are huge and wide ranging – from environmental
to social welfare to health and wellbeing.

We recognise this need for change in our own backyard in Bendigo.
One of the biggest things we need right now is applying creative thinking to the challenges we face.
As Albert Einstein said:
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
But we have come to notice that there are actually an amazing number of innovative and inspiring solutions being applied to address many of the challenges we face in our community. In fact when
we open our eyes to it, we are blown away by what’s emerging.

The question then becomes: who knows about these amazing solutions and who’s talking about it? At the moment we don’t think many people at all realise the depth and breadth of creative solutions
that are currently taking place in our own town.

That in itself is an absolute tragedy! That more people aren’t aware of what fantastic initiatives are taking place already right here right now.
Solution
So Make a Change Australia and I Heart Bendigo have joined forces to bring something exciting to Bendigo that addresses this issue.
Outside the Square!
Outside the Square is a public talk series to generate learning and discussion on addressing community challenges in interesting and different ways. Each month we invite two speakers to showcase
to the wider community innovative approaches for a particular theme. We will also generate great media and lots of discussion around that theme.

Outside the Square will encourage a culture of creative thinking and solutions.
Outside the Square will enable others to learn from and be inspired by what these speakers are doing as well as come up with their own ideas and solutions to apply in their own ways.
Outside the Square will make a big difference to the way we collectively generate solutions to the challenges we face in Bendigo.
