The Catalyst Collaborative Coworking Community – A place and space to make business happen!
Regardless
of age, culture or creed, we all desire the freedom and we want to make our own choices
wherever possible!
Imagine thousands of South Australians and others who are unemployed or underemployed not by their choice, who share that same dream. Many of these fellow citizens have much to offer our community in experience, knowledge and talent.
Our name CATALYST COLLABORATIVE speaks for itself!
CATALYST communicates action and COLLABORATIVE communicates people working together and supporting each other.
Our initiative provides the environment and support to give people in our community the opportunity to explore and create a future for themselves and for others.
Our fellow community members want to work, they want a job. Others want to develop their ideas into a business. Some would like to un-retire and supplement their income and contribute more to the community.
We cannot always do this alone……………from time to time we all need some help!
Our organisation, the Catalyst Foundation has been around for over 20 years and has evolved to meet the needs of our stakeholders, clients and community. Our team has experience in ageing, disability, culture, employment and business and most importantly we care about our clients and thrive on seeing them succeed. We have assisted thousands of our clients make positive informed decisions about their current circumstances and their future aspirations. We are an organisation of PEOPLE helping PEOPLE! We have invested significant financial, human and physical resources to develop the Catalyst Collaborative and will continue to look for ways to support our community.
The ABS tells us that, in 2015, Australia had over 2,060,000 small businesses. Employing over 781,000 people. 62% of small business don’t employ anyone else except the owner. That’s over 480,000 jobs! So creating a job for yourself by starting self-employment, a consultancy or a small business is a credible and achievable option. Small Businesses also create jobs for others too!
However,
to ensure some level of success you need to get informed about what it takes to start a business. When you start a
business you need know about finances and legal requirements. You need to know
how market your business. And these days you need significant knowledge around
social media, online presences and technology to support your business.
Working from home is an option for some people. However, we have learned from research and peoples stories that working from home can have many distractions, be professionally isolating and can lead to significant decline in business productivity.
Working in an environment that is conducive to productive and sustainable business is very important. Secondly, being surrounded by likeminded business people is encouraging and strengthens our resolve to succeed. And thirdly, access to mentors provides support to deal with those challenges that businesses face every day as they grow and function.
We have created a service, the environment and a supportive team that provides economic value, builds individual confidence, personal wellbeing and a path to self-determination for our community members.
We opened our doors 3 months ago and we have grown to 42% of our capacity in the city and look forward to continued growth.
One of the things that delights our community members is that our environment is more than just another coworking space ……..of co-habitation or a bit of real-estate.
They can talk to our staff and each other to discuss their progress, challenges and share their successes. We will work together to support and connect each other.
We have a business plan to make what we do sustainable and a strategic objective to expand our model of support into other regions with the support of local communities, councils and businesses.
We have a business plan to make what we do sustainable and a strategic objective to expand our model into other regions with the support of local communities, councils and businesses.
