Campada Maria
'Campada Maria' will document the journey of a team of researchers implementing an agro-ecological irrigation system for a women’s association in the village of Campada Maria in Guinea-Bissau. Our lenses will observe these strong African women opening their hearts and homes to well intentioned strangers with offerings of a better tomorrow.
Our Purpose
Green technology is not accessible in many parts of the world, especially not in the West African country of Guinea-Bissau, one of the poorest nations in the world. 'Campada Maria' will give us the unique opportunity of recording the impact renewable energy will have on this community. The documentary will also capture how higher education can be a driving force for innovation, social change, and the advancement of people.
Who Are We?
Our crew will accompany a team of students and scholars from many fields led by Dr. João Onofre Pereira Pinto, a scientist from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. This team of experts of many fields designed and developed a solar-fueled sustainable solution for the use of clean water resources. Once implemented, the new irrigation system will enhance the women's local agricultural activities, the backbone of this community's economy. We aim to understand the challenges and joys the women of 'Campada Maria' experience day to day, while exploring the transformative power of technology.
How Can You Help?
While the researcher’s trip is already funded, we need your help to document their journey! Your contribution will help us with transportation and accommodation, and is vital to our project. Together we can make this a reality, help us share 'Campada Maria' with the world!
