Statistics show that about 4,000 children die each day from diarrhea caused by unsafe drinking water and poor sanitation in under-served poor communities around the world, especially those in the sub-Saharan Africa
regions.
To reduce such incidents in Africa, our Water is Life project is serving a new at-risk population in the Upper West Region of Ghana, Africa to create a small, portable, effective, and affordable water filtration system. The
Water is Life project is serving remote communities in this region because women and children have to walk miles only to find dirty unsafe drinking water which are highly prone to killer diseases like cholera and diarrhea.
The water system as shown in the picture will accept water from floods, lakes, ponds, rain, wells, rivers or streams. The filtration system can make up to 60 to 70 gallons per day of clean water for each household.
The filter with periodic cleaning and maintenance usually lasts for 8 months.
Every household will be given a water system, which can be easily installed and maintained by themselves. They will be empowered with capacity-building trainings and partnership with micro-finance programs to sustain
the program and the system maintenance.
