THE MISSION
Transform Ugandan communities from the inside out by empowering local Ugandan students with important, practical STEM education.
Education in Uganda faces many challenges in equipping young people with the skills they need to succeed in life. Only 1 in 4 children who start primary school make it to secondary school, and many students lack key competencies standard in developed countries.
A young group of Ugandan university graduates are passionate about making a change in their communities from the inside out by focusing on important, practical STEM education. Together, they have founded the African Stem Education Initiative (ASEI). By creating programs that teach STEM skills, young people will be empowered to transform their communities from the inside out. This all starts with the CODE program.
THE VISION
ASEI is a non-profit organisation based in Fort Portal, Uganda with a vision to create a sustainable ecosystem which is innovative, engaging and contributes to the economic development of the country.
It aims to empower Ugandan students to determine their own future and create active, positive change in their local communities. By engaging students in project-based learning and hands-on training, it hopes to create a safe environment which encourages innovation.
THE CODE PROGRAM
The first stage in implementing that mission is to introduce a CODE Program to local secondary schools in Fort Portal and the Rwenzori region. The program aims to familiarise secondary school students with basic programming skills such as JavaScript, Python, Robotics and C++, creating a foundation for advanced careers in engineering, health, mathematics and more.
The CODE program is ready to launch, with partnerships already built with three local schools. This is where we need your help.
