What is Ahimsa Collective?
Hi. We are Tessa and Susie.
We met four years ago and (like all budding friendships) bonded over Rosé and our mutual love for the ocean. We had both stopped buying leather products, and were frustrated at the lack of alternatives that were ethical, sustainable and cruelty-free.
So we stopped complaining, put our money where our mouths are and decided to do something about it.
Thus, Ahimsa Collective was born.
'Ahimsa' because we aim to place no suffering on the planet nor its inhabitants.
'Collective' because this isn't a movement exclusive to us and that is why we need you.
Why You Should Support Ahimsa Collective
The fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters in the world, second only to Oil and Gas. Additionally, Australians are the second-largest consumer of new textiles (after the US) meaning we have a huge global part to play in the Industry's waste and feel a responsibility to change this.
For us, as global citizens, designers and retailers, we feel that Fashion is an incredible vessel for change, steering the consumer market towards a greener future.
Our Products
Each collection is produced with a long-lasting sustainable vision. We produce our products from innovative materials such as:
1. Piñatex (the leaves of the pineapple plant)
2. Sustainably Forested Washable paper
3. Ecoprene (post consumer plastic water bottles)
Throughout our methods of production we ensure minimal, if any, material waste and use plastic-free materials from branding through to packaging.
To complete the loop from concept to customer, we are proud to partner with Australia’s first carbon neutral courier service and deliver in our custom branded biodegradable mailer bags.

1. Climate Change Seminar and Training with Co-Founder Tessa Carroll.

Helping the planet
For every sale of an Ahimsa Collective item, we donate $5.00 to an Australian charity who are making positive changes to our planet. Currently we are supporting Ghostnets, who remove discarded fishing lines from our oceans and clean up our coastlines.
Our materials are made from 'waste', so you can experience that 'feel good' factor, knowing that you are helping to convert waste to wear.
Pinatex® is a natural and sustainable non-woven textile made from the fibres of pineapple leaves, essentially a bi-product of the pineapple farming industry. The production of Pinatex has quite the positive environmental impact as 'biomass' is produced in the decortication process. This 'bio-mass' can then be converted into organic fertilizer or biogas and sold. Therefore, both the extraction of the fibres and the production of biomass can provide additional revenue streams to pineapple farming communities. This material really does just keep on giving!
Eco-prene is produced using post-consumer plastic water bottles, using would be waste and up-cycling into the lining for our products.
