Garfield Youth Sports (GYS), a program of Brothers and Sisters Emerging (B.A.S.E.), provides a football and cheerleading program to over 250 youth from ages five to eighteen with a volunteer staff consisting of volunteer coaches, many of whom are parents, residents or past program participants. The program, also known as the Garfield Gators has been in operation since 1994 and has served over 4,000 youth since its inception. GYS provides youth with wholesome activities that seek to instill in its participants a feeling of pride and confidence.
The Garfield Gators 7 on 7 Football Program operates under the umbrella of GYS, serving youth in grades 8th - 11th grade, January through May. Participants take part in the on-field experience of playing the game of football, mentoring, and academic enrichment programming that focuses on study habits, time management, organization, SAT/ACT prep, college tours and more.

Since this is a volunteer effort, we are conducting a fund-raising campaign to cover the costs associated with this program.We plan to travel to cities and states outside of Pittsburgh, Pa to participate in various tournaments and visits to institution of high learning.We believe the exposure and experience will enhance their desire to be model student-athletes with the interest of attending a college or university of their choice, upon graduating from high school.
