Help Shine Light in Darkness
45.8 million people are trapped slavery around the world today. In brothels and factories, hidden in the shadows and darkness. Many driven there by poverty. Currently, there are 1.4 billion people living in extreme destitution.
We spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year on consumer goods. What if the product choices we make could provide life-changing solutions to people in need of breaking the poverty cycle and set them free from slavery?
Introduction
The Global Slavery Index released in June 2016 estimates 45.8 million people enslaved in the world today. About 2 million children are exploited every year in the global commercial sex trade.
Women and girls make up 98% of victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation. It includes pornography, prostitution and sex trafficking of women and children. Each year, an estimated 800,000 women and children are trafficked across international borders. The girls were often driven into the sex trade or sold to human trafficking syndicates due to extreme poverty. Of that, nearly two-thirds are from impoverished Asian nations.
Our Mission
This project aims to be the change we wish to see in our world and restore what has been stolen from these women. Our goals are essential to women's empowerment. Due to the stigma associated with prostitution, by the families of formerly trafficked women, they are rarely welcomed back into their homes at the same time, other employment opportunities are hard to come by. Without such options, they are highly vulnerable to re-trafficking or may willingly choose to re-enter prostitution due to a lack of other avenues. The goal of this project is to improve the livelihood and increase the level of human security of the poor and vulnerable women and children in Thailand.
We are working closely with NightLight International to create dignified employment and training opportunities for the survivors seeking an alternative to the sex industry. This is essential to supporting the rehabilitation and independence of survivors. It provides hope and a sustainable future for the ladies.
Each support helps to secure freedom and restoration for the survivors. The items are also sold commercially online via the Generation 414 website which assist with empowering, rebuilding their self-worth and enabling financial independence to support themselves and their families in a safe and positive environment. Profits from products sold are channelled back to fund job creation initiatives to free more exploited girls and educational programmes for their children so they don't end up in their month's shoes.
Know that your support will directly assist a meaningful cause that seeks to make a positive change in the world.
