Fundraising for and Islamic/Modest clothing, book and gift shop
I’m Shanada. I am a revert to Islam since 2006 alhumdulillah. When I began to observe hijab, I was frustrated by the lack of resources for modest clothing in the area and skeptical of online purchases. So, in 2009 I began selling Islamic clothing from home at gatherings I called “Abaya Parties”. It was a beautiful “marriage” of sisterhood and shopping. However, it could not meet the ever-growing demands of the booming Austin Muslim population.
WHAT WE NEED:
Our community needs a full-scale Islamic and modest clothing, book and gift store. We need it to be easily accessible with the best quality and widest selection at affordable prices. We currently do not have any full-time stores for clothing, books or gifts in our community. We would like to have a section for Dawah, a dressing room and message board for community events. The store will be called “The Ummah Shop”. We would also like to share our goods online to accommodate the growing Muslim population here, in the west. Sadly, many communities lack these essential resources.
Simply put, our biggest setback is MONEY. Traditional businesses depend on loans to get started. Typically these loans are based on interest, which are prohibited in Islam. If we want the barakah (blessing) in our business, we need to start it off right.
This is where YOU come in…yes YOU!!! It’s slightly unorthodox, but we decided since this business is for the community, that we would reach out to the community to help get it started Insha Allah. If we reach our tipping point we would be able to secure a location and increase inventory. If we reach our goal we will be able to have a much wider selection of merchandise fund the dawah section, install the dressing room(s) and have the store fully operational by Ramadaan Insha Allah.
HOW CAN YOU HELP???
Make Dua for success and DONATE! Please don't underestimate the power of your help $1, $5, $10...goes a long way.
“And whatever you spend in good, it will be repaid to you in full, and you shall not be wronged.”
If we reach our tipping point we would be able to secure a location and increase inventory. If we reach our goal we will be able to have a much wider selection of merchandise, fund the dawah section, install the dressing room(s) and have the store fully operational by Ramadaan Insha Allah God willing). Funds will go directly towards start-up cost for The Ummah Shop, which include securing store location, store fixtures and inventory. Any funds in excess of goal will be put towards inventory.
