What has OIC done with their funds already?
In the two successful crowdfunding campaigns that we have run on StartSomeGood, over 160 people have generously supported our work. With these
funds we have completed the first pilot project of speech therapy in Cambodia, helping over 100 children like Ling. We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, to start progress towards running a speech therapy
course at a university in Cambodia. We've laid the foundations for a five-year plan to start a speech therapy course in Cambodia by the year 2020.
Where will AUD$18,000 get us?
If we reach our tipping point of $18,000, we will be able to bring the stories of 10 children to the United Nations and the Cambodian government. This will help them to understand why it's important to include speech therapy in the public health system and
how it will help more children reach their potential in education. Funds will cover the costs of equipment, labour, transport and related expenses towards this campaign.
Where will AUD$28,000 get us?
If we reach our target of $28,000, we will be able to take this campaign nation-wide. We will be able to collect the stories of an additional 10 children (total of 20 children) and cover expenses to extend the
Unseen, Unheard campaign across Cambodia.
We will engage doctors, teachers, and local government officials to help them understand why we can no longer neglect children with speech problems. We will also work to increase understanding of the need for speech therapy by engaging local communities,
families and schools and improving attitudes to children like Ling.
