The Problem: Australia is Missing out on Female Leadership
In Australia, more women than men graduate from university (a 60:40 ratio). But disappointingly, few women make it to leadership positions.
Women are holding only:
35.3% of Government board appointments
24.7% of elected positions in the House of Representatives
16% of bench positions in Federal Court
Most ASX 200 companies have NO women in key executive management positions and women are being paid $5,000 less than men for their first salary.
The Human Rights commission reports that one of the reasons for this alarming gap is that women undervalue thier skills and do not to pursue leadership positions. Sheryl Sandberg, C.O.O. of Facebook, agrees and talks about how this affects the rate of female
leadership worldwide in a recent TED Talk. Australian women are showing the same patterms because of a range of cultural and social factors.
“Goddess Graduates with a Vision” is acting to change that.
The future we see, is one where women in Australia are living thier lives to its highest potential; where they stand on level ground with men, equally represented and renumerated
in leadership positions in business and government.
We want to affect that by training women in the skill of confidence. Our program is a series of intensive, activity-based half-day workshops taught to female final year students about to enter
their workforce.
In a typical workshop, young women will:
• Dream build / create a vision board
• Acknowledge, clarify, and practice articulating their strengths and skills
• Learn how to replace negative self-talk with motivating energizing thought patterns
• Learn techniques to present themselves with authority (including vocal projection and how to "dress for success")
• Connect with / create a network of like-minded ambitious women
The program also includes:
• An accompanying audio program
• Access to “Goddess Graduates with a Vision” website that houses additional material
• Mentorship from successful female entrepreneurs and politicians.
We want to give young women practical life skills, stimulate expanded thinking, and create an environment of supportive relationships. We need your help to give the young women that will shape Australia's
future, the confidence to take thier place as leaders. We want Australia to take its place as a forerunner in gender equality.
