We are creating a future where communities can access and utilise diverse techonlogies that can enable their full participation in local and regional economic development and sustainability. A future where lives and livelihoods are protected and ecological integrity is maintained.

Our Story & Why You Should Support Us

WiserEastAfrica.org was created in early 2012 as part of a growing network of regional African groups on the Wiser platform for sustainability.

We advocate a collective and empowering vision for East Africa - seeing through African eyes. Our two crucial reference points are 'local' and 'vulnerable'. 'Vulnerable' is not the lack of strengths, but the place where strengths emerge. We refer to these points when considering regional issues such as climate change, information technology accessibility and development, food security, sustainable farming and community health and livelihood.

This online regional group provides a hub for knowledge and skills exchange, as well as a potent space for shaping collaboration between all stakeholders in the region.

What is Wiser? (also known as WiserEarth or WE by our community)

Wiser is a global village for sharing and kinship-building for people who believe in a more just and sustainable world.

 

Specifically, Wiser helps the global movement of people and organizations working toward social justice, indigenous rights, and environmental stewardship to connect, collaborate, share knowledge, and build alliances.

WiserEarth (which runs the Wiser platform) is a tax-exempt not--for-profit organization, under section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code.
