Teens Run Yonkers (TRY) connects young people with mentors who partner with them as they train for endurance races such as the Yonkers Half Marathon, as well as other local races. The process of setting and achieving running goals builds confidence, self-esteem and a positive outlook that crosses over into every area of life.





The Future We Are Creating

We are training the future leaders of our community to have confidence in their abilities to achieve huge goals, model leadership skills and live a healthy lifestyle.

How We Are Creating It

We accomplish this by giving them the life changing experience of training for and completing endurance events such as running a marathon or 1/2 marathon with an inspiring mentor.  Doing something that only 8% of our population does gives teens the understanding that they can do whatever they set their sights on.

Our Story & Why You Should Support Us

I started this program and organization because I personally lived the change that running can have on your life.  I was born with a congenital heart defect, was sedantary for many years and came to exercise and running very late in life.  I ran my first (of ten) marathons in 2008 and it showed me that you can do anything if you take a step-by-step approach to any goal.  

I also have ten+ years of experience in managing nonprofit programs, raising financial support and leading teams towards success.  I have done this with organizations from start-ups to some of the largest and well-known organizations.  

I have made running and growing Teens Run Yonkers my life's work and am truly fortunate to be able to live my passion and bring it to others.
