I'm hoping to get the next version of my book funded.  The book is entitled, "Surviving and Making Money in a Down Economy: A Guide to Coping with Unemployment and Finding New Opportunities"

It's a book about helping people cope with unemployment in the current economy as well as finding new opportunities.

I uploaded and published to Amazon and while Amazon only allows me to give the book away for free for 5 days, during those 5 days, the book shot up to the #2 and #3 spots in 2 categories!  (Job Hunting, Career Development).

Another book I gave away shot up to #1 and stayed there the entire time (5 days)

I've since then received numerous contacts from the readers all asking for more detail in several specific areas.  My goal is two-fold in this project.

1. Rewrite the book to enclose and address the requests of the people that have contacted me.

2. Print as many copies of the book and give them away for free to anybody who wants or needs it.

I'm talking to Amazon now about giving the book away for free.

If this project is successful and over-funded, all extra funds will be sent to printing and distributing other copies of the book for free.

I've translated the book into both Spanish, French, Italian, and Germanr and I have been getting quite a bit of feedback from Europe!

While I can only help one person at a time, I believe addressing the issues (all are very common) that people ask about will allow me to help even more people in the new version of the book.

The Change we're absolutely going to accomplish with this book:

1. Empower people with Hope and the ability to develop themselves in the current economy (this always leads to positive change and new opportunities)

2. Give people a concise "How-To" on accomplishing the steps in the book to build their worth in the marketplace.

3. Inspire Hope and Change within people and the economy by teaching people how to evolve to the current job situation.

After this project is done, I plan on releasing the book for free (electronic edition) to anybody who wants or needs it as long as the resources can support it.

I run a blog called: Swimminginthought.com and have over 1900+ unique visitors a day as well as over 40000+ active subscribers and growing.  (I have no idea how that happened). Sorry to get off on this tangent, but I just felt is was important for you to know that.

Funds will allocated to rewrite the book, hire resources as well as marketing. 

A website for the book will need to be produced for:

Marketing and to build an online community

Companies to buy copies of the book. (Part of the dream)

A distribution point

Tipping Point:

The new copy of the book will be written, we’ll have a website up and the ebook version will be available.

Writing and editing will require ~2 months. Graphic design for the web, a modest salary, paying the designer and editor: $10K.

Website: The website to be around $4.5K for the programming and $500 for graphic design and $500 for hosting (1 yr.). The site will also serve as Marketing and forum.

Publishing set-up: Between $2-3k depending on the number of pages; it requires plates to be made for each page.

At that point, the proof is printed for review, and then more printing begins.

Marketing: 3K

Full Funding:

$45k (based on a 120 pg. color book) will be spent as follows:

Based on research, (speaking with a printer with over 20 years of experience), estimates seem to put the printing of the book around $6.50-$8.50 per book.  Of course this price per unit will decrease as the scale increases.  But we'll use most of the funds raised above the tipping point to print as many books as we can and to give them away for free.

We'll use $5K to be set aside for publicity.
