Stories of the biggest movement the world has ever seen.
Since the media is full of depressing stories of war, environmental destruction and social injustice, it has led to most of us becoming angry, demoralized or numb to the state of our planet. However, alongside the countless problems of our world, there is a movement, that is powerful, but fragmented. People are working in their pockets of the world to make a difference in their own ways.
In the words of legendary thought leader, Paul Hawken, ‘This is the largest movement the world has ever seen. Rather than control, it seeks connection. Rather than dominance, it strives to disperse concentrations of power. Like Mercy Corps, it works behind the scenes and gets the job done. Large as it is, no one knows the true size of this movement. It provides hope, support, and meaning to billions of people in the world. Its clout resides in idea, not in force. It is made up of teachers, children, peasants, businesspeople, rappers, organic farmers, nuns, artists, government workers, fisherfolk, engineers, students, incorrigible writers, weeping Muslims, concerned mothers, poets, doctors without borders, grieving Christians, street musicians, the President of the United States of America, and as the writer David James Duncan would say, the Creator, the One who loves us all in such a huge way’.
Stories for Change will unite these people, through the means of a short story collection and a documentary film. We are documenting stories of people around the world who have done positive work to benefit the human community, environment, or animals. These stories could get lost in time, if we don’t share them now. Yet, if we do, they could become food for our souls. Our website: www.storieschangingtheworld.com will give you more information on this project.
Our dream and vision for this project: is to help millions of people to get a clearer vision of themselves, as they stand in front of the mirror, to have unobstructed peeks into each others’ hearts, to gaze at those tall trees in the forest and know in their hearts, that it is possible. It is possible in this lifetime.
These stories could get lost in time, if we don’t share them now.
Remember, we are in this together. What you do, makes a difference. Make a difference now. Support Stories for Change.
The progress made by us uptil now can be read on our blog: http://www.storieschangingtheworld.com/apps/blog/
If we reach our tipping point goal, we will be able to:
-source an additional 20 stories from around the world
-gain access to collaboration opportunities via the Melbourne HUB
-have opportunities to meet writers and other inspiring people who have made a positive difference in our world
If we reach our total goal, we will be able to:
-source stories from remote parts of the world, which are hard to get to
-expand our project team by getting more people with diverse skill sets on board
-re-develop our project website through professional help
-gain support from a network of professionals in the area of books and publishing
-connect with publishers and find a literary agent
-gain mentors support for effectively executing the project
