Help us bring a diverse group of Mexican children together, and they’ll learn how to live more positive, purposeful and healthy lives.
Where: DIF Jalalpa
When: Mid-2012
How Long: 1 week
Sports for Sharing is hoping to raise enough money to send 90 Mexican children between the ages of 6 -15 on a special Sports for Sharing camp during 2012.
Children of different ethnic backgrounds from specific low socio-economic and high violence localities will be selected by the Mexican Government, and offered the opportunity to attend this event.
The main objective during this camp is to raise youth awareness about the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG's) through an inclusive, constructive and stimulating intensive one week workshop. Sports for Sharing have developed an approach that promotes children to think consciously about global challenges and how they are linked to their own local actions, particularly in the fields of health and prevention, environment, education and national culture.
In an exciting and dynamic environment, and with your help, six Sports for Sharing facilitators and countless volunteers will teach these children about the MDGs through games that involve physical activity, whilst at the same time stimulating interest in and appreciation for the vast cultural diversity in Mexico.
The cost to support one child at camp is estimated to be $55USD.
Funds raised will be used to cover the following:
- Transport
- Sports for Sharing T-Shirts
- Food and Drink
- Sports Equipment
- Arts & Crafts Equipment
- Administation Resources
In order for the camp to go ahead we will need 35 children sponsored. The cost to support one child at camp is estimated to be approximately $55USD.
35 Children x $55USD = approx $2000 (our tipping point).
Sports for Sharing will be able to cater for 90 Children maximum.
90 Children x $55USD = $4950 (our total goal).
Please help us by supporting this worthy cause.
