Campaign Overview

Promote a concrete sustainable reading culture. Instill and revive the belief that reading creates limitless opportunities!

The campaign seeks to promote a reading culture in all age groups and specifically children. It is based around Tshabalala, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and poverty has continued to bring so much underdevelopment. The campaign also intends to create holistic individuals who are community conscious. By getting funding to procure books for Inhlathi high school, Maphisa primary school, Tshabalala public library and Alliance preschool we will be able to empower thousands. The initiative is not just about giving but eventually having a cycle of people who initiate their own community based programs. We eventually intend on creating a self sustaining community in terms of education, health and social activities. This eventually will alleviate inactivity, crime and poverty. With the ground work set, we will be able to initiate various programmes that will create employment and allow for various policy change within the educational system. We strongly believe that education bears no polarity in the development of poor communities and hence forming a company around it will bring development.

Tipping Point Goal: $5,000

Total Funding Goal: $20,000

Upon reaching our tipping point we will be able to:

register our company;

buy stationery;

buy a laptop to enable us to record data and information during field work;

get internet connection as we are currently working in public internet cafes which is expensive and an inconvenience because of closing hours;

buy a generator to curb the problem of power cuts which interfere with the work we do;

run workshops.

If we reach our $20,000 goal, we will additionally be able to:

pay for shipments of books;

Start our farming projects whose proceeds will be able to sustain Graduate Rejects as a company as well as provide employment for people in the community. Once registered any funding company needing any information about the company will be emailed. Collectively our community suffers from a negative consciousness and they are programs we wish to implement to change this e.g. conscious based education and transcendental meditation.
