Campaign Overview

A documentary that follows the lives of five women who discover they have prolapse. The feelings upon discovery and how they treat prolapse.

At the ripe old age of 27 my husband and I welcomed our first son into our family! Boy, did I and my husband find out the hard way that those pregnancy books do not tell you everything that can happen during and after the birth.

I discovered I had a prolapse, a word most women do not know even though it will affect 50-75% of women in their life time. After the initial devastation I dived into 1000's of hours of research to understand what prolapse is and what my options were. I also started a website for women to share their stories and educate each other; www.prolapsehealth.com

There are several types of prolapse that we will discuss fully in this project including cystocele, rectocele, unterine and vaginal. These prolapses can manifest themselves at any point in a woman's life. The good news is that when recognized there are a variety of treatments, natural and surgical, that can restore our pelvic floors to full health. Most women are only affected mildly with prolapse which means they have the ability to maintain pelvic floor health and not have to seek invasive options of treatment.

I have seen the need and have desired to do this project for several years. I have found women who are willing to openly speak out.

Thank-you sooooooo much for reading and watching the video! Thank-you for understanding the necessity of this project and being willing to consider being a part of the making of this film. This film is not possible without your help, we cannot say thank-you enough for helping us share hope with the many women who need it the most.

In this modern age we can't continue to allow the "secret" to live in the dark.

Tipping Point Goal: $10,000

Total Funding Goal: $25,000

We currently have access to an FX-1 as well as other HDV equipment. We would love to have the convenience of a flash-based medium for remote shoot preparation, faster reviewing, and organized archiving. We also need a second camera system (batteries, lenses, etc) for B-roll as well as a quality audio system for field recording and a portable lighting package.

Travel, makeup artist, sound man/woman, remote sound stage time (occasionally), equipment rentals, software updates, food, print services (release forms etc), honorariums for medical consultants, one-off grip assistance... These are all the things that you can help us pay for and every little bit you generously give will contribute to the quality of the end product and a reasonably swift release date.

We understand that our funding goal won't cover mass distribution but we're trusting that once the production is complete we will find a solution to make sure everyone who needs to see this film will be able to have a copy. We are mostly focusing on shooting, editing, and post production...we are most grateful for any help you can give us to at least have a completed film project.

Once we meet our tipping point this will guarantee a documentary film, however we would only be able to tell two women's stories rather than the full five.

The full amount will give us the ability to have five possibly more women to interview. We also would like to have a gynecologist be interviewed as well.
